Launching Jenerise Education with Dan Richardson, MSc, SENr

Let’s be honest - there’s never been more noise around creatine than right now. Scroll through social media and you’ll see it everywhere: influencers half-explaining it, parents panicking in comment sections, and young athletes quietly asking if it’s “safe.” The reality? Most people still don’t actually understand what creatine is - or why it matters.

I grew up playing rugby, chasing a contract and doing everything I could to get stronger and fitter. Back then, nutrition wasn’t really part of the conversation - it was all chicken, rice, and protein shakes because that’s what we thought worked. My parents didn’t have the knowledge, my coaches didn’t either. We never spoke about recovery, energy balance, or fuelling properly, let alone creatine. Looking back now as a performance nutritionist, I can see exactly where the gaps were. And those same gaps still exist today for young athletes, parents, and coaches.

That’s why we’ve built Jenerise Education. Together with Steve Jennings - one of the pioneers of creatine research - Dr Darren Candow, and the wider Jenerise team, we’re here to cut through the myths and bring clarity to the people who need it most: athletes, parents, coaches, and practitioners making real-world decisions every day.

This isn’t about pushing products. It’s about getting the basics right. Creatine isn’t some new trend or dodgy powder. It’s a naturally occurring compound your body already produces - and one that’s tough to get enough of through diet alone unless you’re eating serious amounts of red meat or salmon. For athletes, especially younger ones, creatine can support performance, recovery, resilience, and even focus. But the conversation online has become polarised - “miracle supplement” on one side, “dangerous chemical” on the other. The truth sits in the middle, and it’s far more powerful when explained properly.

Our goal is simple - to be the signal in the noise. To show where creatine fits within a food-first (but not food-only) approach. To give parents confidence, coaches the right language, and athletes the knowledge to train and recover smarter.

We’ve just launched this week, and honestly, I couldn’t be more excited. For me, this goes beyond work, it’s personal. I wish I’d had access to something like this when I was 15, sore, over-trained, and wondering if another protein shake would fix it. If we can make the path clearer, healthier, and more confident for the next generation of athletes, then it’ll all have been worth it.

We all rise together,

Dan Richardson | Lead Nutritionist, Jenerise Creatine Education
